By the time I am writing this article, the image below has already gone viral on social media for obvious reasons. I am not going to talk about how funny or how bad it is for Star Sports, but just going to focus on how we can all avoid something like this.
Why this happens?
Multiple Twitter Accounts on Mobile
Personally, I believe that this happens when people sync multiple twitter accounts on their mobile devices. So when your cellphone has a personal account as well as a client/corporate account, there’s a very high chance that you would end up tweeting from the wrong account.
Multiple Accounts on the browser
Again, if you have your clients/corporate account opened on one browser and your personal account open on another, there’s a high chance of you goofing up again.
How can you avoid these mistakes?
I think that anyone can make this mistake if utmost care is not taken. Here’s what you can do:
Avoid syncing your client/ corporate accounts on your mobile devices
I say this because of three reasons:
1. What if your phone gets stolen and someone plays a prank before you’re able to change the password?
2. What if your friends play a prank?
3. What if you tweet from the wrong account by mistake?
Avoid tweeting during office hours
At times, frequent tweeters can unconsciously do this mistake of tweeting from the wrong account. The best solution is to control your urge of tweeting from your personal account while you’re at work. Don’t just log in.
Sync your personal and professional/client account from different devices
So while you can sync your personal twitter account on your cellphone, you just need to ensure that your professional account is logged in from your workstation only. That would certainly help you avoid confusion.

Its unfortunate that it happened with Star Sports and above all, the language used makes it a bigger burning topic. But the bottom line is to learn from what has happened and how we can avoid it.
